We all know that Regé-Jean Page had an illustrious TV career before joining Bridgerton as the infamously charismatic Duke of Hastings – remember his character in Waterloo Road?
Well, it turns out he also appeared in Harry Potter, as TikTok is only just finding out. Admittedly, it was a bit of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of appearance, but still!
Sharing the clip on TikTok, one user wrote, “Am I the one who just noticed this now???” alongside an extract from Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1. The scene focuses on Hermione (AKA Emma Watson) and Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) finding out that the Ministry of Magic has fallen and that they're about to be attacked by Death Eaters. It's pretty intense, so we don't blame ourselves for missing the Regé-Jean Page looking alarmed in the background.
Can you spot him?
Understandably, fans were rocked by the surprise cameo (is it a cameo if he wasn't exactly famous yet?). One commented, “so thats why he wasnt there in season two [sic],” presumably referring to Bridgerton season two? I mean Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released in 2010 so we'd have to rule that theory out.
Another fan commented, “At this point you would tell me every British actor and actress appeared at least once in Harry Potter I would believe you.” Honestly? Same. We're just waiting for Phoebe Dynevor to show up in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
And finally, our favourite comment: “Bro thought the patronus was the diamond of the season [sic].”
Back in April 2021, the Duke Regé-Jean confirmed that he wouldn't be returning for season two of Bridgerton, tweeting, “Pleasure and a privilege! An honour to be a member of the family - on and off screen, cast, crew and incredible fans - the love is real and will just keep growing.”
He's also addressed those rumours that he might be the next James Bond, saying, "I think that’s fairly normal and I’m flattered to be in the category of Brits that people have noticed.” But he added: “I think the concept of having plans in this moment in history is mildly hilarious. So I’ve given up on making them.” Hmm, no confirmation yet then.
We say: forget about James Bond, we need a Bridgerton/Harry Potter crossover, stat.
